Your giveaway brief
Answer the prompts. Turn the same details into useful copy.
Make it obvious where an entry counts
A comment under a shared announcement can be easy to miss. Link to the original giveaway post and say that entries must be made there. For website entry, list the information the form needs. For email entry, give the exact address and subject line.
Follows, shares, reposts and friend mentions
The generator lets you draft the actions you choose and flags issues to consider. This is not a promise that those actions are allowed on every platform. Facebook’s promotion policy prohibits requiring or incentivising shares, reposts, tagging others or other publicity. The builder shows a caution if you choose those actions for Facebook.
Instagram prohibits inaccurate photo tagging. Whatever action you choose, work out how to verify it for all eligible entrants. Private accounts and disappearing Stories can make that difficult. A simple comment entry is often easier to administer than several actions across different platforms.
Keep instructions and terms consistent
If the instructions say one entry per person, do not reward repeated comments when you draw the winner. If following an account is required, list the exact handle. Keep the same prize description and closing time in the post, terms and directory submissions. If you are considering asking entrants for a product or business review, first read Online Competition’s guide to competition entries in exchange for reviews and the relevant platform’s current policy.
